QUALIFIED TUTOR AND LEADER

Some of the greatest learning comes from when you pass your knowledge on to others. Felicia Zhang helps pianist to become qualified tutor through series of pedagogy training on the necessary skills to teach others. Pianist learns how to diagnose student’s strength, weakness, root cause on constant mistakes occurred and how to deliver the concepts and techniques in a simple word to help student to make progress. by the end, you will be able to qualify to become an on-line or on-site tutor for Piano Village.

Why tutor:
You gain the opportunity to develop intellectually, psychologically, and personally. You express what you’ve mastered while rethinking the concepts and experiencing them through someone else’s point of view. You will build mutual understanding, and this will also help you in your own learning in lessons or with teachers. Through reorganizing concepts and contents, and adjusting your own viewpoint, you will improve your own study habits, and your own independent learning skills. On top of that, you will develop maturity and self-confidence, and build observation and communication skills that will help you for the rest of your life!

How to do it well:
This program will train you to organize contents clearly, and how to explain with flow and clarity. You will need good listening and observation skills, and be able to interpret questions and confusion from students. You will learn how to follow a curriculum and follow Felicia’s pedagogy. Mentally, you will learn to be patient and calm with every student, while also demonstrating enthusiasm, and maintaining the balance between the three. You will be a leader, and will understand how you and the student work as a team.

How to qualify:
To be an onsite tutor, you will first need to pass the RCM or ABRSM Level 5 or above with a score in honor. You will then be tested in handwriting, accuracy, speech, and mindset – all things which we will work on in the program. You must be in middle school or higher to qualify to be a tutor, but if you are in elementary school, you can qualify to be an assistant helper by passing the RCM or ABRSM level 3 and completing the course.

Tutor responsibilities includes:
All tutors or assistants must attend an orientation session, and regular meetings (once per month) to be trained in all the requisite skills.
